What we say:
We are very excited to include our friends, Bare Bones Chocolate, in our food box. This chocolate is out of this world. It is roasted in small batches, super respectful to the supply chain and has eco-conscious packaging.
What Bare Bones say:
Bare Bones Chocolate was born through a love of speciality food, exploring coffee culture and admiring quality design. We, Cameron and Lara, wanted to handcraft the best possible chocolate, in micro-batches, focusing on incredible flavour profiles.
We handcraft our chocolate in our tiny workshop in Glasgow. We delicately roast our beans in a Giesen coffee roaster to very specific temperature profiles, in order to bring out the unique
flavours of each origin. We crack the beans to release the nibs from the husks and winnow to
separate them. The nibs are ground with sugar and a little cocoa butter in a large stone grinder, for up to 72 hours, to create silky smooth chocolate and to release the volatile acids stored within the cacao (the bitter taste commonly associated with dark chocolate). We then temper and mould by hand to stabilise the chocolate and give it a glossy sheen with a crisp snap.
The bars are hand-wrapped and packaged. Our colourful boxes, labels and postcards are made from recycled paper coffee cups. All of our packaging is as sustainable as possible – from chocolate to postal serivce. We have chosen to use materials from recycled sources that are recyclable, compostable or biodegradable after use.
